The China Association of Warehousing and Distribution (CAWD) is a non-profit social organization registered with the Ministry of Civil Affairs of the People’s Republic of China in 1995. It currently has 16 branch offices. The leading body of the association’s party work is the Society Work Department of the CPC Central Committee, and the industry management department is the Ministry of Commerce (MOFCOM).

The purpose of CAWD is to promote the modernization of China’s warehousing and distribution industry and the development of modern logistics. The association focuses on three key areas: warehouse construction, distribution center operation, and service and technological innovation. It firmly adheres to the three main development lines of standardization, greening, and digitization, and carries out policy research, industry self-discipline, consulting and training, information exchange, conferences and exhibitions, international cooperation, etc. CAWD has been undertaking the work of the International Federation of Warehousing and Logistics (IFWL) Secretariat since June 2019.

CAWD adheres to the concept of green development and has been fully promoting the “Green Warehousing and Distribution Action Plan” since 2014. CAWD has formulated standards such as “Requirements and evaluation for green warehousing and distribution” (GB/T 41243) and “Green warehouse requirements and evaluation” (SB/T 11164). In order to foster excellence and drive improvement, CAWD actively carries out evaluations of green warehousing & distribution enterprises and green warehouses. As of July 2025, 1000 green warehouse certifications have been completed, and the total scale of certified warehouses has exceeded 56 million square meters.
