GRESB Guides
We are pleased to announce that GRESB Guides is now live, marking a complete redesign of our resource experience—built to be more intuitive, practical, and closely aligned with how participants complete GRESB Assessments.
Developed in response to direct Member feedback, GRESB Guides brings together all core assessment guidance into a single, streamlined platform, replacing our legacy resource areas. What this means for participants:
- All guidance in one place: Reference Guide content, Scoring Document content, technical FAQs, indicator summaries, and asset-level data instructions are integrated directly at the indicator level.
- Clear, intuitive navigation: A redesigned structure makes it easier to move from high-level concepts to detailed, indicator-specific guidance across assessments.
GRESB Guides is designed to support more efficient preparation, clearer interpretation, and a smoother Assessment experience overall.
GRESB & MIPIM Sentiment Survey Results
At the end of 2025, we heard from more than 180 real estate professionals—including LPs, GPs, developers, and advisors—on how sustainability priorities are shaping strategies for 2026.

Key takeaways from the survey include:
- 66% say sustainability remains core to their strategy
- Only 4% expect to do less on sustainability in 2026
- Investor and lender requirements remain the strongest driver of action
- Climate risk and occupier demand shifts are seen as the biggest threats to asset values in 2026
- Capital and ROI concerns remain the main barrier to improving resilience

Assessing Sustainability in Real Estate Lending: A Lender-Focused Framework
Join us online on January 29 for a webinar providing an overview of the GRESB Real Estate Lender Assessment, covering why it was developed, how it works in practice, and how it supports benchmarking, oversight, and credible engagement for lending and credit teams.
This session is designed for real estate lenders and credit teams. If that’s not your role, we encourage you to share this invitation with any colleagues who work in the space.
Building on a successful multiyear collaboration with real estate lenders and investors globally, the GRESB Real Estate Lender Assessment is a structured, independently validated framework purpose-built for lenders. It evaluates how sustainability considerations are embedded across lending practices—from risk management and due diligence to loan portfolio oversight—delivering validated, comparable insights for credit and investment teams.
Request a Results Consultation
You can still request a Results Consultation before January 31 to gain deeper insight into your GRESB results and receive actionable guidance for future assessments.
What Is a Results Consultation?
A Results Consultation provides detailed insight into how your score was validated, how points were allocated across individual indicators, and where opportunities exist to strengthen performance in future reporting cycles. With Results Consultations, Participants receive:
- A detailed review of validation outcomes and GRESB Scores
- A one-on-one discussion with a GRESB Member Success Analyst
- A tailored Results Consultation report highlighting opportunities for improvement
Why Request a Results Consultation?
In 2025, Participants who took part in a Results Consultation saw an average score increase of 4-to-9 points compared to those who did not.
Many Participants use the Results Consultation to support investor discussions, clarify scoring and validation outcomes, and identify both short-term and long-term actions to strengthen performance.

You can purchase the service directly in the GRESB Portal by January 31. For any questions, contact the GRESB Member Success team.
Advanced Ratings: Share Your Feedback
GRESB is exploring potential enhancements to its five star rating system, informed by feedback from investors, participants, and partners. While the global five star rating remains a valuable benchmark, growing diversity in portfolios, regions, and investment strategies has prompted interest in more tailored, complementary rating approaches.
In a new article and accompanying technical report, GRESB’s Parag Cameron-Rastogi, Charles van Thiel, and Chris Pyke, outline proposed Advanced Ratings approaches—including thematic ratings, context-specific “sliced” ratings, and alternative threshold-based approaches—and examine their potential impacts using recent data.
We invite you to review the proposals and share your feedback via a short survey to help inform the evolution of GRESB ratings.
GRESB Real Estate Road to Performance
As shared in late 2025, this year marks a period of extensive industry engagement to advance the Foundation’s vision of rewarding measured, real-world performance.
As an investor-led body, the GRESB Foundation governs the Standards to ensure they evolve in line with investors’ priorities and market maturity. The evolution of the Real Estate Standard toward performance-based scoring is a natural and necessary step in aligning with investor expectations and needs, reflecting both market readiness and the growing emphasis on impact and accountability within the investment landscape.

2026 Standards Work Plan
The Real Estate and Infrastructure Standards Committees recently hosted their first meeting of the year. They have already begun executing their work plans to update the 2026 Standards, which will soon be presented to the Foundation Board.
As highlighted in the GRESB Foundation Roadmap, the real estate topics include performance scoring, decarbonization, embodied carbon, data quality, building certifications, and physical climate risk, as well as indicator retirement and scoring adjustments. Real Estate Standard development will focus on the longer-term vision toward rewarding measured, real-world performance. The Secretariat will work to ensure updates are predictable, transparent, and responsive to industry feedback.
The infrastructure topics include reducing reporting burden, performance scoring, risk management, net-zero materiality, as well as improving GRESB tools. Infrastructure Standard development will share the focus on streamlining and technical improvements. The Secretariat will also continue to integrate the Investor Group on Climate Change’s Net Zero Investment Framework into the GRESB Infrastructure Asset Assessment.
