GRESB NZIF Alignment Tool for Infrastructure Launches April 1, 2026

We are pleased to announce that the GRESB NZIF Alignment Tool for Infrastructure will launch as part of the 2026 GRESB Infrastructure Asset Assessment on April 1, 2026.

Developed in collaboration with the Institutional Investors Group on Climate Change (IIGCC) and informed by a successful 2025 pilot, the tool provides a standardized approach to assessing how infrastructure assets align with the Net Zero Investment Framework (NZIF) 2.0.

As investor expectations around climate resilience and decarbonization continue to evolve, the GRESB NZIF Alignment Tool supports a more consistent and comparable view of net-zero progress across infrastructure portfolios.

Why this matters

The GRESB NZIF Alignment Tool for infrastructure provides GRESB Infrastructure Asset Assessment participants, alongside their managers and investors, with the necessary metrics and corresponding methodology to evaluate and communicate how infrastructure assets are progressing toward net zero against the NZIF multi-criteria maturity scale for infrastructure.

This approach helps:

  • Enable consistent asset-level evaluation against NZIF criteria
  • Support investor engagement using a common framework
  • Reduce duplicative or ad hoc data requests
  • Strengthen transparency around net-zero alignment

How it works

The GRESB NZIF Alignment Tool:

  • Uses data reported through the GRESB Infrastructure Asset Assessment
  • Includes a short, voluntary NZIF Module
  • Does not affect GRESB Scores or benchmarks
  • Is optional and free for participating infrastructure assets

Infrastructure assets that complete the NZIF Module will receive a dedicated GRESB NZIF Alignment Report, accessible to investors and managers with Benchmark Report access. The outputs map reported data against the NZIF multi-criteria maturity scale for infrastructure and provide structured insights to support both internal strategy and external reporting.
